Time markers
The Time markers give you the date and time of:
- The current date and time (hours and minutes)
- The date and time when the form has been submitted
In your spreadsheet
In your generated document
Email markers
To use Email markers, you need to activate Collect email address, in your Google Form settings.
Then, click Collect email addresses.
The <<Email Address>> marker will then be replaced by the user’s email address in your generated document.
Workflow markers
To use Workflow markers, you need to activate the Approval workflow option in the Sharing options and Notifications sidebar.
Other markers
- The <<Template Title>> marker lets you personalize the title of your Google Form.
Learn more on the following article: ‘Choose a relevant title for each file created’.
- The <<Increment>> marker lets you know the number of your file which has been submitted. By default, the form number will be written according to the number of sending.
In your email
In your spreadsheet
- The <<Score>> marker lets you know the quiz results of your respondents. First, use this marker to activate the ‘quiz’ option in Google Form: Settings > Quizzes > Make this a quiz > Save.
Then, go back to your form and click on Answer key.
Choose the correct answer(s) for your question, then choose each question's points and click Done.
Your respondents will see the result of their answers straight after responding.
You can check your respondents’ scores in your responses spreadsheet.
- The marker <<Link to edit>> generates a link in your template that will read "Click here to edit your response" and point to the form so the respondent can edit his response. This link will only work if the Edit after submit option is enabled.

I am using the Today marker in my template (a Google Doc). The generated doc shows the date in mm/dd/yy format. Is there a way I can change this to the more UK standard dd/mm/yyy format?
Any way to create a marker with the form's respondent's email account?
Hello Patricia Laing,
To learn more about date format, please read this article: Configure your date and time format.
Hello Arlene LeBoeuf,
We just update this article to include the <<Username>> marker.
Thanks for your feedback.
Dear FromsPublisher Staff, thank for this complement.
There is any way can you update this complement to include a marker with the "test score"?
Thank for you colaboration.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Hi,
@Nicolas: This is not currently possible as the score is only inserted in the response spreadsheet ... We will try to find a workaround this issue as several users ask for that feature.
Form Publisher Team
AMAZING product!
Just one feature request! Is it possible to have a <<UsernameOnly>> tag where you strip the domain information from the email? So for example if the person submitting the form is john.doe@email.com the <<UsernameOnly>> marker would return "john.doe" and strip out the @email.com. This could be useful!
Either way, absolutely fantastic product!
Hi,
@Patrik Svensson: Thanks for your feedback, that's a good idea, we will implement two new markers, one for the username only and one for the domain only. We will update this article as soon as it's released.
Hello!
@Form Publisher Team: That's awesome. An EVEN MORE awesome Market would be something like <<UsernameProper>> where the "john.doe@email.com" e-mail could output to "John Doe". So the "<<UsernameProper>>" marker would not only strip the domain, it would remove any dots and capitalize first letter of each word. Not sure if this can be done but considering many businesses keep the to firstname.lastname@email.com format this would be an awesome feature! Then we can easily extract the name of who submitted the form!
Either way, appreciate the product as is!
Hi,
@Patrik Svensson: This could be a good idea for professional emails addresses. We will update this article if we decide to develop this new marker.
Hi,
I'm trying to use the <<Email Address>> marker, I tried both with and without the * (in sheer desperation it might do something)
but I always get the error below. Any suggestions how to deal with this?
Hi,
@Avery Miller: Thanks for pointing that out. We did forgot to add those marker in the marker detection. But this should work just fine without the *. We will fix this as soon as possible.
Is it a case sensitive issue? Since Google uses "Email address" as the title rather than "Email Address" for the collect email address field.
HI,
@SenseorsONE: It is case sensitive, but Google do use "Email Address". I wasn't clear in my first comment, we forgot to add it to the marker detection, so in the sidebar it will say that it's not a match, but in the file generation the marker will be replaced by the email of the respondent and everything will work just fine.
Hi,
Are you able to put the Increment Number as a marker? I would like the increment number on the google doc because I can use it as an invoice number. So the doc will be labeled "12345" and I can have that in the body of the document by using a marker. If this is possible, what would be the marker format?
Hi Josephc Talento,
I'm not sure that i understand your question, the <<Increment>> marker does exist and return the current increment number.
Hi,
For the generated files I have them labeled as <<Increment>>. So each time it publishes a form they are called 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. I wanted to see if I could have a marker in my Template for the <<Increment>>, so that way it shows up in the document.
Hi Josephc Talento,
You can use the same marker in your template document.
Any way to get the real user name-not email address? echobunny@whatever really won't help to identify someone.
Thanks
Hi,
You can do that with a Spreadsheet template using formulas but not in a Google Doc or Slide.
My template requires
Republic of XXXXX on the <<month>> month and <<day>> day.
How can i use today to repeat it twice and set different parts of today in document?
Hi,
You can use the <<Timestamp>> marker and the <<Today>> marker both configured to display the right information (one will display the month, the other the day).
Might there be a marker for the form description field? (i.e. the text entered in the description field when you "Add title and description"). I have forms where I use the description field to present a bunch of statements that the respondent need to agree with by simply answering a simple yes/no field. I would really like the Form Publisher output to capture this text in the output without having to copy and paste it into the template--I can't have the same "controlled information" captured in two different locations.
Hello @Scott de Ridder,
There's no marker for the form description yet.
I invite you to suggest the idea here: https://support.form-publisher.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/200687185-Feature-Requests
Thank you.
Hello,
1) timestamp always comes in GMT+0, while we are in GMT-7 (PST). Response spreadsheet has correct timezone and displays correct timestamp
2) dates in the published form have format YYYY-MM-DD, while the form and the spreadsheet has them as MM/DD/YYYY.
Please advise on how to change those.
Thank you
Hey @gymcatsteam,

Hello,
I have issues with the Score Marker, the score is reflecting 0/0. Can someone help me to use this marker.
Hi Sazzha Martinez,
Can you please contact the client support (at support@form-publisher.com) they will investigate on your issue. Thank you.
Is there a way to format the output text?
- Capital Letters
- Underline
- Bullet points (line spacing)
Hi Nick,
Thanks for your post!
If you talk about how the response will be displayed in your template, indeed with markers helps you can format the text on your template the way you want.
Thanks
