When you create the document template, you can add markers for some or all of the questions in your form. A marker is made of the question title and opening and closing angle brackets. For example, to add a marker for the question Full name, you add the marker <<Full name>> in the document template. During the document generation of form submission, the <<Full name>> marker is replaced with the full name submitted by the form respondent.
With this example, we demonstrate how to add a question in an existing Google form and how to update a Google Docs template to include the marker for the question.
Prerequisites
Open an existing Google form that was previously configured with Form Publisher.
Procedure
- Open your Google Form.
- Add a new form question.
For example, What is your name?. - Open Form Publisher and select Launch Form Publisher.
The Template and markers menu opens. - Click Edit.
The Google Docs template opens. - Add the marker <<What is your name?>>.
warning Your marker must match exactly your question title, respecting upper and lower case letters. - Click Refresh.
Form Publisher checks if the markers match your question titles. - (Optional) Click question markers.
Result
Every time a new response is submitted, the marker is replaced with the answers in the generated template.
